HC Deb 30 April 1970 vol 800 cc395-6W
Mr. Gwynfor Evans

asked the Minister of Transport what was the total cost of building motorways between 1966 and 1970; and what proportion of this was spent in Wales.

Mr. Bob Brown:

About £ 366 million was spent on building motorways in England in the five years between 196566 and 1969–70. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales advises me that during the same period he spent nearly £ 15 million on motorway construction in Wales. These figures exclude expenditure on short motorway bypasses on otherwise all-purpose trunk roads and on motorways built by local highway authorities.
