HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 c342W
91. Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on his policy following the recent increase in prosecutions under the Drugs Act.

Mr. Elystan Morgan:

The Misuse of Drugs Bill now before Parliament provides for flexibility of action to deal quickly and effectively with particular drug-misuse problems as they arise; and, by introducing certain new offences in the field of drug-trafficking and increasing the penalties, should prove a more effective deterrent against the unlawful distribution of drugs.
