HC Deb 28 April 1970 vol 800 c268W
53. Mr. Scott-Hopkins

asked the Minister of Transport if he will include in his major road construction programme a new route for the A6 by-passing both Matlock and Bakewell.

Mr. Bob Brown:

We have no plans at present to include such a scheme in the programme although I would not rule out the possibility of a by-pass of Bakewell in the longer term. Relief would be provided to this section of A6 by new or improved routes between Stoke and Derby and between Manchester and Sheffield which are both the subject of current feasibility studies.
