asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many offences involving the possession or taking of drugs were brought before courts in Scotland in 1969 in the most recent annual period for which figures are available; how many of these offences related to persons under 21 years of age; and what were the comparable figures in each of the previous five years.

Mr. Ross:

I am circulating below a table showing persons proceeded against for offences against drugs legislation during the period and the numbers under 21. More detailed figures for 1969 will be available later in the year.
