HC Deb 22 April 1970 vol 800 c101W
Mr. Malcolm MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress is being made with afforestation in the Isle of Lewis; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross:

The Forestry Commission has 1,764 acres of plantable land on the Isle of Lewis including some experimental plots. So far, 79 acres have been planted—including 14 acres of the experimental plots—and planting is expected to continue at the rate of about 150 acres a year.
