§ Mr. Patrick Jenkinasked the Minister of Transport if he will list the motorway proposals in respect of which public inquiries have been held, but no decision has yet been announced, giving in each case the publication date of the proposal and the date of the holding of the public inquiry.

Use) Regulations, 1969, which allows a 4-wheel axle load of 11 tons. Owners of vehicles travelling above this weight are required to indemnify the highway authority in respect of damage which may result from such use.
The design of new roads is related to the accumulated damage expected from all vehicles estimated to pass over the particular road during its design life.
27WA revised version of " Guide to the Structural Design of Pavements for New Roads " (Road Note 29) to be published by the Road Research Laboratory and currently with the printers will enable these designs to provide for varying numbers of axles having weights of up to 45 tons which is the maximum permitted by the Motor Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) General Order, 1969.
