§ 64. Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is aware that some local authorities are continuing to reduce the number of home helps for which there is a need; and what steps he now proposes to take to encourage local authorities to expand the home help service.
§ Mr. CrossmanWhile there may have been some recent reductions in staff in a few areas, the home help service as a whole has expanded considerably in recent years. I propose to discuss shortly with the local authority associations how the service can be improved in the light of the findings of the Government Social Survey report published on 1st April.
