Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the strength and the total manpower of the Lothians and Peebles police force in the years 1964 and 1969, respectively.

Mr. Ross

At 31st December, 1964, the regular police strength was 404 and the total manpower, i.e. excluding cadets and civilians in a domestic category, was 446; the corresponding figures at 31st December, 1969, were 421 and 475.

Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total expenditure on the Lothians and Peebles force in the year 1968–69; what was the expenditure on police radios and vehicles in that year; and what change these figures represent on the expenditure for the year 1963–64.
