HC Deb 07 April 1970 vol 799 c65W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for increasing and improving the sea protection and rescue services relevant to North Sea fishing fleets; and what are the present numbers and personnel of each.

Mr. Ross

My Department operates eight fishery protection vessels, with a complement of 159 officers and men, around the coasts of Scotland. Plans for improvement must await the report of the Committee under the Chairmanship of the hon. Lord Cameron which is reviewing the law regarding fishing in Scottish coastal waters and its enforcement.

Questions relating to sea rescue services are for my right hon. Friend, the President of the Board of Trade.
