HC Deb 21 October 1969 vol 788 cc184-5W
Mr. Roebuck

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in the light of paragraphs 709 to 713 of the Donovan Report on Trade Unions and Employers he will ensure that trade union officials employed by Her Majesty's Stationery Office are granted leave to attend Trades Union Congress courses at recognised educational institutes.

Mr. William Rodgers

Her Majesty's Stationery Office practice, which predates the Donovan Report by several years, follows the recommendation of the Report that shop stewards in this case, Fathers of the Chapel, should be given paid leave to attend T.U.C. Day Release Courses at recognised educational institutes.

In addition, recent consultation with the T.U.C. has led Her Majesty's Stationery Office to extend the paid leave arrangements to include Deputy Fathers of the Chapel.
