§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsMy right hon. Friend is aware that disquiet has been expressed that the law about betting is being evaded and he has brought this to the attention of chief officers of police, who are responsible for the enforcement of the law.
Representations made by the National Association of Bookmakers to my hon. and learned Friend the Financial Secretary earlier this month have been conveyed to my right hon. Friend, but they were not supported by any new evidence.
