§ 42. Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will instruct all electoral registration officers to conduct a pilot survey to establish whether there has been any substantial shortfall in the registration of the 16, 17, 18 and 19 year-olds for the new electoral register; and if he will this year extend the period during which claims for inclusion on the register can be entertained after initial publication of the B and C lists.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsSome electoral registration officers have already done this, with mixed results. Anyone aged 16 years 8 months or so on 10th October last ought to have been entered and still can be up to 16th December. That date is fixed by law in order to ensure due publication of the register.
