HC Deb 11 November 1969 vol 791 c60W
65. Sir G. de Freitas

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he expects to receive a report from the Water Resources Board on the nature, extent and costs of a feasibility study on the proposals to build a Wash Barrage designed to alleviate the shortage of water in the East Midlands and East Anglia and make less necessary the use of agricultural land for reservoirs.

Mr. Denis Howell

As my hon. Friend the Minister of State explained in reply to a Question by the right hon. and learned Member for Huntingdonshire (Sir D. Renton) on 21st October. I expect to receive and publish the report next summer. The desk study will appraise the case for a full feasibility study and set out in detail the content and estimated cost of such a study.
