§ 58. Mr. Juddasked the Minister of Transport if he will take steps to bring total cost to the Exchequer of the Greater London Council's London motorway projects, details of which are in his possession.
§ Mr. MulleyI have made no such estimate for the Greater London Council's motorway projects. Planning is proceeding subject to the appropriate statutory procedures, on the basis that during the 5–8 years beginning in 1971–72 my Department will commit about £200 million on the primary road network for London, whether or not these roads are built as motorways. This includes trunk roads for which I pay the whole cost and Greater London Council principal roads to which I contribute 75 per cent. of the cost. I cannot say what funds will be available beyond this 5–8 year period.
