HC Deb 04 November 1969 vol 790 c103W
Mr. Tom McMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of the run down in house building in Glasgow, if he will take steps to provide additional financial assistance to Glasgow Corporation.

Mr. Ross

The Government have given massive help towards the solution of Glasgow's housing problems by arranging for building by the Scottish Special Housing Association within the City, for building by the Development Corporations in the New Towns, and for overspill building elsewhere. In addition Glasgow benefited financially from changes made in 1969 to the Rate Support Grant formula. Substantial further help has been offered at Erskine and elsewhere, but this has been delayed by a change in the Corporation's attitude.
