HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 c72W
90. Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has formed of the effect on Northern Ireland and development areas of his latest monetary measures; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

It is not possible statistically to identify regional effects of particular monetary measures. I can, however, say that, though the Northern Irish banks are informed about the restrictions applying to the banks in Great Britain, they have not been asked to observe a quantitative limit on their lending; and that the banks in Great Britain have been asked, in considering applications for advances, to have regard to the Government's policies on regional development.
