Mr. George Jegerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that the rates of interest on loans to local authorities as specified in circular 47/69 make it impossible for them to keep rents and rates stable while proceeding with necessary building and development; and what financial relief he proposes to grant them.
§ Mr. SkeffingtonLocal authorities already receive very substantial help towards meeting interest charges through the rate support grants, the Housing Subsidies Act 1967, and various specific grants.
