HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 cc299-300W
Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether, in connection with his proposed inquiry into the possibility of reducing imports, he will ensure that attention is paid to the use of imported materials in connection with the building programmes for which central and local government authorities are responsible.

Mr. John Silkin

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the discussions on import saving which are taking place in the National Economic Development Council. The scope for import sav- ings on building materials is something which my Department keeps under constant review.
