HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 c299W
68 and 69. Mr. Anthony Royle

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works (1) how many deer were killed or injured in Richmond Park during the period 1st January to 31st March, 1969; how this figure compares with those for a similar period in 1968 and with the average for that time of year over the past 10 years; and how many of the deaths and injuries were caused by car accidents;

(2) at what time in the morning were Richmond Park gates opened during the period 1st January to 31st March, 1969.

Mr. Loughlin

The opening times of the carriage gates varied from 8.30 a.m. in January to 7 a.m. in March. 16 deer were killed during these three months, all as a result of car accidents. This compares with a figure of 1 over the same period of 1968 and an average of 2 over the same period of the past seven years. Reliable records are not available before 1962. No records are kept of injuries to deer.
