HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 c470W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Chief Constable on the official target establishment strength of the Hampshire Police Authority; including its present strength, its recruiting target in 1968–69, and the level of recruiting achieved; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

The strength on 30th June was 2,365 as compared with an establishment of 2,750. In the fifteen months up to 31st March, 1969, the force needed to recruit 149 officers to replace retirements and achieve its permitted increase. The number actually recruited was 151. The target for 1969–70 is 134.
