HC Deb 14 February 1969 vol 777 c395W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, as an aid to tourism in Great Britain, he will investigate the feasibility of a computer facilitating hotel bookings.

Mr. William Rodgers

The Hotel and Catering Economic Development Committee, in association with the National Computer Centre, has already commissioned a study of the feasibility of establishing a nationwide computerised hotel reservation system. A summary is available from the National Economic Development Office. The E.D.C. is now studying the possibilities of implementing such a system. The Board of Trade is represented on this E.D.C. and is in close touch with these studies.
