§ Mr. Emeryasked the Minister of Transport what is the estimated extra income that will be obtained by British Railways by the special passenger surcharge, to be applied during the summer peak period on Saturdays from the second week in June until the first week in September; how many passengers it is estimated will pay this surcharge; and what was the number of passengers carried over these routes in 1966, 1967 and 1968.
§ Mr. MarshIt has been Government practice in recent years only to consider 301W answering Questions seeking statistical information about a nationalised industry when this is on a national basis. Moreover, I understand that the Railways Board would not be willing to disclose this information, as to do so would be against its commercial interests.
