HC Deb 03 February 1969 vol 777 cc15-6W
Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Transport if he will take action in order to improve the route from Heathrow to West London Air Terminal, by eliminating all right-hand turns and making the clearway permanent between the Chiswick Flyover and West London Air Terminal.

Mr. Marsh

Complete elimination of the few remaining right turns on this route cannot be justified, although the arrangements at certain junctions are under review. The problems will be alleviated by programmed improvements at Sutton Court Read, Hogarth Roundabout and on West Cromwell Road from Earls Court Road to Warwick Road.

Permanent clearway restrictions are already in force between the Chiswick Flyover and the West London Air Terminal.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Transport if he will take action to provide a non-stop route from Heathrow to West London Air Terminal by replacing traffic signals by over or under passes between Chiswick Flyover and West London Air Terminal.

Mr. Bob Brown

Grade separation is planned at Sutton Court Road and the Hogarth Roundabout on the trunk road length of this route. The Greater London Council, as highway authority for the remainder, intends providing grade separation at the intersection with the proposed West Cross Route near Warwick Road. The Council is also examining possible further improvements.
