§ 56 and 57. Mr. Pardoeasked the Minister of Transport (1) what plans his Department has for major improvements to the A30 between Exeter and Launceston during the next five years; and what is the estimated cost of each of these;
(2) if he will estimate how many miles of the A30 between Exeter and Launceston will be dual carriageway by 1975;
(3) what major improvements have been made to the A30 between Exeter and Launceston during the last five years; and how much each of these cost.
Mr. Bob BrownAs the hon. Member knows, priority is being given to comprehensive improvement of A38, and consequently no major improvements have yet been made on this section of A30.
55WIn the last five years the road has been widened at Lewdown and minor improvements made at 14 other sites at a total cost of £467,761.
No major improvements are yet firmly programmed to start in the next five years. But about £15 million worth of schemes are being prepared which will provide 26 miles of dual carriageway from Exeter to Okehampton and on the Okehampton and Launceston bypasses. It is hoped that part of these can be completed by 1975.
