§ Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will initiate discussions, as a matter of urgency, with representatives of the British Sugar Corporation regarding their decision to secure a reduction in the acreage planted to sugar beet in Scotland in 1970 by terminating the period for signing of contracts by growers at the end of November.
§ Mr. RossI am assured that the British Sugar Corporation have reached no such decision. As to the closing date for receipt of contracts, I refer the hon. Member to my reply of 2nd December to the 361W hon. Member for Edinburgh, West (Mr. Stodart).—[Vol. 792, c. 275.]
