HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c319W
6. Mr. Donald Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what progress has been made in introducing equal pay in the member countries of the European Economic Community, from details available to her from international sources.

Mrs. Castle

The latest available report by the Commission of the European Community was produced in September 1967. This showed that up to 31st December, 1966 the principle of equal pay for men and women as defined in Article 119 of the Treaty of Rome and detailed in the resolution adopted by the Conference of Member States on 30th December, 1961 had not yet been fully applied in practice in any community country. The commission is due to produce another report shortly.
