HC Deb 02 December 1969 vol 792 c274W
Mr. John Page

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many arrests were made after disturbances, on different dates, outside the British Petroleum works at Grangemouth; whether those arrested were strike pickets; how many members of the police and public were injured, and to what extent; and how much damage was caused to vehicles and property.

Mr. Ross

I understand from the chief constable that four arrests were made, one on 6th November, one on 10th November, and two on 13th November; so far as I am aware, the men arrested were strike pickets. 20 officers of the police force received injuries, mainly bruises and abrasions. One member of the public was injured; he received an abrasion to his ankle. Minor damage was caused to several buses.

Mr. John Page

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish in full or as an edited summary the report of the chief constable about the disturbances outside the British Petroleum works at Grangemouth caused by strike pickets there.

Mr. Ross

No. I have nothing to add to the answer given to the hon. Member on 19th November.—[Vol. 791, c. 307.]
