HC Deb 02 April 1969 vol 781 c101W
Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what increase there has been in farm amalgamations in Northern Ireland in 1967, and in 1968.

Mr. John Mackie

There are no precise figures for the total number of farm amalgamations. In recent years, the decline in the number of units in the agricultural census and the annual fall in the number of full-time farm businesses in Northern Ireland has averaged about 500. The Government's amalgamation scheme has so far attracted 437 applications in Northern Ireland.
