§ Mr. Edward Lyonsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps which will have the effect of reducing the delay in bringing cases to trial at the Central Criminal Court.
§ Mr, Merlyn ReesI am aware of the delays, which are due principally to the increased volume of work before the court. An additional court was brought into use in September, and work to provide further courts is in progress. My noble Friend the Lord Chancellor is considering the possible appointment of a further additional judge.
