HC Deb 31 May 1968 vol 765 c302W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the scheme for the reorganisation of secondary education in Sutherland, which he has approved, will be implemented.

Mr. Ross

I have been informed that Sutherland Education Committee has decided to upgrade the school at Farr to a four year junior high school as from the beginning of session 1968–69, subject to the recruitment of additional teaching staff, and to downgrade Dornoch Academy to a four year junior high school at the same time. The timing of the implementation of other parts of the scheme depends on the completion of the new school to be built at Lairg. The planning for this has now, I understand, been put in hand.
