HC Deb 07 March 1968 vol 760 c127W
44. Mr, Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that on every weekday within a few yards of the Caledonian Road Police Station many vehicles are parked without a current road fund licence; and why, between 1.30 p.m. and 2.15 p.m. on Monday, 26th February, a number of police going to and from the police station and passing these vehicles did not take down the details of numbers for reporting in accordance with the law.

Mr. Taverne

As my hon. Friend knows, most of these officers will have been reporting for, or going off, duty and so not available for routine tasks; but during the five months up to the end of February nearly 300 reports of revenue offences were made in the local police section.
