§ Mr. Judd
asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many places on undergraduate and postgraduate courses at British universities and centres of higher education have gone unfilled since the increase in overseas students' fees as a result of no British students coming forward to fill places left vacant by students from abroad who were unable to pay the new fees.
§ Mrs. Shirley Williams
Evidence supplied by the Universities Central Council on Admissions suggests that the number of unfilled university places is lower this year than it was before the fees for overseas students were raised.
Comparable information for other centres of higher education is not available.
