HC Deb 07 March 1968 vol 760 c159W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, what accidents and breakdowns there have been at nuclear power stations operated by the South of Scotland Electricity Board; whether any of these incidents resulted in an escape of radioactive materials; and what was the cost.

Mr. Ross

There have been no accidents or breakdowns involving the escape of radioactive materials at Hunterston, the only nuclear power station operated by the South of Scotland Electricity Board.

To provide details and estimated costs of minor component breakdowns would involve the Board in a disproportionate amount of effort; but these do not cast doubt on the reliability of nuclear stations as compared with conventional.
