§ 98. Mr. Buchanan-Smithasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made of the effect of a £3 per ton rise in the price of cereals on the costs of production of the livestock products, per hundredweight of beef, per pound of lamb, per score of pigmeat, per gallon of milk and per dozen of eggs, respectively.
§ Mr. HoyNo precise estimates can be provided because of variations in the cereal content of feeds and in the degree to which cereal price increases are reflected in compound prices, and because of variations in feeding systems and the efficiency of feed use. Changes in feed costs on pig and egg production are, of course, automatically allowed for in the operation of the feed formula.
