§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will estimate the additional cost to Scottish agriculture due to the Government's economic measures announced on 18th November.
308W
§ Mr. RossThe increase in Bank rate from 6½ per cent. to 8 per cent., if continued for a full year, would increase the cost to Scottish agriculture of credit for current farming purposes by about £0.6 million. It is not practicable to isolate the effects of devaluation from other factors affecting agricultural costs but all cost increases will be taken into account at the Annual Review.
