Mr. Rossi

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will give details of the cut of£26 million in spending on environmental services in 1968–69 that was announced in Command Paper No. 3515.

Mr. Greenwood

The figure of£26 million applies to Great Britain. The corresponding figure for England only is£23 million.

The expected distribution of the cut is as follows:

The miscellaneous category includes local government offices and civic buildings, including theatre and concert halls, private street works, retail markets and cemeteries and crematoria.
