§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Minister of Transport what investigations his Department has carried out to ascertain the effect of the use of seat belts in preventing injury in road accidents; and whether accidents are analysed for this purpose in Scotland, England or Wales.

In addition a special team, including medical staff, is studying aspects of injuries to road users and this can be expected to yield further information on the effects of the use of safety belts.
