HC Deb 03 April 1968 vol 762 c103W
Mr. Peter Walker

asked the Minister of Transport if she is aware of the large number of forms that are being sent out to road hauliers under the sample survey of goods vehicles that apply to vehicles that have been disposed of or even scrapped; and what action she is taking to remedy this.

Mr. Swingler

Yes, as indicated in the Answer to the hon. Member on 1st February. The Goods Vehicle Index from which the sample has to be drawn is in some respects out-of-date, partly because operators fail to notify the Traffic Area Office when vehicles are sold or scrapped.

We are considering the most economical means of improving our records.—[Vol. 757, c. 382–3.]
