HL Deb 23 October 1967 vol 285 c1510WA
LORD ERROLL OF HALE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much money is being spent on advertising in the Press the next closing date for the Queen's Award to Industry; and why it was considered necessary to place these advertisements.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, BOARD OF TRADE (LORD BROWN)

The advertisements have cost £3,899.

Industrial concerns are invited to apply for the Award by a fixed date each year. They cannot be nominated by third parties. It is therefore important to draw the attention of as many industrial concerns as possible to the opportunity of applying for the Award and to the closing date for applications. Advertisements in the Press are an appropriate way of doing this.

Trade associations and chambers of commerce are also asked to bring these points to the attention of their members.
