What consultations they had with the C.B.I. before deciding to introduce what is now Section 18 of the Companies Act 1967.

Section 18 of the Companies Act 1967 requires companies to state in their directors' reports the number of their employees and the aggregate amount of their wages. Her Majesty's Government believe that this requirement is consistent with the view expressed by both sides of industry at the National Productivity Conference in September, 1966, that companies should be encouraged to publish information on productivity. Her Majesty's Government had no other consultations with the Confederation of British Industry before deciding to introduce the clause which became Section 18 of the Act.
