HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 cc298-9W
80. Mr. David Howell

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is his policy in regard to the part to be played by the Land Commission in negotiations between developers and private individuals.

Mr. MacDermot

The Commission would consider intervening if they were requested to do so by either or both of the parties or if there was evidence that betterment levy was being added to the asking price of the land.

Mr. Clegg

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what criteria the Land Commission use to decide which firms shall be allowed to tender for land offered for sale by the Commission.

Mr. MacDermot

Applications will be considered from firms that are on the register of the National House-Builders Registration Council or can comply with similar standards. Apart from this the main criteria for selection will be the stocks of land already held, and the capacity of the firms to complete the development of the land satisfactorily in a reasonable time.
