§ Mr. Rossiasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the number of references to rent officers at present awaiting consideration within the Greater London area; and what is the average time taken between the submission of a reference and a determination being made.
§ Mr. MacCollAt 3rd November, 1967, there were 3,990 applications for registration of fair rents awaiting decisions by rent officers in the Greater London area.
In general the period from receipt of application to registration of fair rent varies between one and three months.
§ Mr. Rossiasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the number of cases in the Greater London area at present awaiting consideration by rent assessment panels; and what is the average time taken between submission of a reference and a determination being made.
§ Mr. MacCollAt 10th November, 1967 there were 1,339 references to the 73W London Rent Assessment Panel awaiting decision by rent assessment committees. Of this total, hearings have either been held or will be held within the next 3 weeks in respect of 375 cases. Within the overall total of 1,339 over 750 cases are included in multiple references which will be dealt with in 41 hearings; 4 of these hearings will cover 400 cases.
In the last 200 decided cases the average time taken from receipt by the London Rent Assessment Panel was 27 weeks. Where both landlord and tenant act promptly this time is considerably reduced and has been as little as 8 weeks.
