HC Deb 09 November 1967 vol 753 cc166-7W
Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Transport what are the estimated costs incurred in the improvement to the junction of the A.3 and A.272 north of Peters-field at Adhurst Hill, the cost of alteration to the Jolly Drover crossroads on the A.3 at Hill Brow, and the cost of the further improvements between Hill Brow and Liphook to the A.3.

Mr. Carmichael

The cost of these improvements is £46,000, £44,800 and £188,600 respectively. In addition a further scheme between Hill Brow and Petersfield is nearing completion at a cost of £31,000.

Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Transport what further plans she has for the A.3 other than those alterations already begun.

Mr. Carmichael

Trunk road schemes to the value of about £14 million are programmed on the A3 for construction by the early 1970's. Of these the more important ones costing over £1 million each are:

  • Kingston By-Pass:
    • Malden Road interchange.
    • Tolworth underpass.
  • Esher By-Pass.
  • Ripley By-Pass.
  • Burpham—Ladymead Diversion

In addition the Horndean—Broadmarsh Diversion was announced earlier this year as having been included in the trunk road preparation pool at a cost of over £5 million.
