asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he is taking to promote new research on fabrics and apparel ignition problems as proposed in the report of the Textile Institute published in January 1965, a copy of which has been sent to him.

The Committee of Directors of Textile Research Associations and my Department have jointly arranged for an agreed programme of research to be undertaken in textile research establishments. Work has begun.
