HC Deb 09 March 1967 vol 742 c329W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has examined the evidence sent to him by the hon. Member for South Bedfordshire of a 17-year-old Dunstable girl sent to Holloway Prison; and what steps he is taking to increase the availability of appropriate remand homes and centres for teenagers.

Miss Bacon

I have seen a newspaper account of this case. Adequate remand centre accommodiation for girls will be available when a new remand centre opens in a few weeks' time. It is the responsibility of local authorities to provide remand homes for girls under 17.
