§ 41. Mr. Berryasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is satisfied that the further proposals 132W he has received from the London Borough of Enfield for the reorganisation of secondary education have been sufficiently considered by the local education authority itself, by teachers and by parents; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsThe Answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes" and to the second part "No".
§ Mr. Hamlingasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what further proposals he has received from local education authorities whose original plans for the reorganisation of secondary education were unsatisfactory.
§ Mr. CroslandI have so far rejected the plans of five local education authorities because they did not provide for the elimination of selection. It is too early as yet for me to have received alternative proposals, but I have suggested that discussions should take place between the authorities and the Department.
