HC Deb 22 June 1967 vol 748 c313W
42 and 43. Mr. Worsley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether vacancies in detention centres are normally available when required by magistrates' courts in the London area;

(2) what plans he has for the provision of more places in detention centres, to be available when required by magistrates' courts in the London area.

Miss Bacon

A public inquiry was opened last week on an application for planning clearance for the use of premises near Wokingham as a detention centre which would provide an additional 200 places for courts in the London area. I am sorry to say that at present the requirements of these courts cannot be fully met.
