Earl of Dalkeithasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what investigations he has made to determine 290W whether concentrations of motor vehicle exhaust fumes, as found in the majority of city streets, constitute a health hazard and whether he will make an early statement on his findings.
§ Mr. Goronwy RobertsThe Medical Research Council's Air Pollution Research Unit has carried out a number of investigations into the possible effects on health of emissions from motor vehicles and this work continues to form an important part of the unit's research programme. To date there is no evidence that the concentrations of exhaust fumes found in the streets have any detectable effects on health.
