HC Deb 13 July 1967 vol 750 c138W
Mr. Brewis

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs what action he has taken to recover compensation from the Tanzanian Government for Mr. B. T. Karimji, a British subject, whose factory in Zanzibar was confiscated by decree dated 1st April, 1965.

Mr. George Thomas

The Deputy High Commissioner in Zanzibar took up Mr. Karimji's case with the Zanzibar authorities in October, 1965, and the Canadian High Commission (British Interests Section) made representations on his behalf again last year to the Tanzanian Government about the action of the Zanzibar authorities in confiscating his property.
