HC Deb 13 July 1967 vol 750 cc121-2W
39. Mr. Dobson

asked the Postmaster-General what has been the outcome of the discussions he has had with the manufacturers of colour television receivers; what price range is now proposed for domestic colour television sets; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Edward Short

I asked the industry to do its best to get prices down. Prices currently range from about £260 to about £350. As I have said before, the broader base which the duplication of B.B.C.1 and independent television on 625-lines will provide for the growth of colour services should offer the prospect of bringing down the price of sets.
